From Stuttgart to Vienna and from ITKE to IGCE
Axel Körner has been appointed to the BMLRT Endowed Professorship for Sustainable Building Architecture – New European Bauhaus at the Institute of Green Civil Engineering, BOKU Vienna
We are proud to announce that Dr.-Ing. Axel Körner has been appointed Full Professor for Sustainable Building Architecture at the Institute of Green Civil Engineering (IGCE) at BOKU University in Vienna.
Since joining ITKE in 2014, Axel has played a key role in advancing foundational research on bio-inspired compliant mechanisms. This work formed the basis of his doctoral thesis, “Compliant Folding,” and ultimately led to the development of the FlectoLine façade system..
He contributed to numerous research projects and supervised 27 ITECH master’s theses, supporting a new generation of interdisciplinary designers and engineers.
Beyond this, Axel was an active member of the academic faculty and contributed through teaching, international collaborations, and successful funding acquisition.
