The Wangen Tower received an honorable mention at the 2026 Baden-Württemberg Timber Construction Award ceremony on May 6 in Friedrichshafen. We would like to once again thank the entire project team, the City of Wangen, and LAGA 2024 for giving us the opportunity to innovate at this level.
The award was presented with the following statement from the jury:
"The tower transforms a property inherent to wood into a structural principle: flat cross-laminated timber elements are specifically shaped through controlled drying and transformed into load-bearing, curved structural components. Thus, the material’s natural shrinkage gives rise to an innovative structure of great elegance. Height, form, and function come together to create an impressive viewing experience in which the quality of the wood can be directly experienced both inside and out.”
