Biobased Materials and Materials Cycles in Architecture (BioMat) at ITKE
This major new exhibition at the Vitra Design Museum features two ITKE projects. The exhibition considers the increasing involvement of robotics as part of human life, with these projects by ITKE/ICD demonstrating the potential of robotically fabricated FRP structures for future building systems. The exhibition is made possible through the involvement of MAK Vienna and Design Museum Gent and opened on 10.02.17 at 6pm.
This pilot installation serves the research of the active reduction potential of moss against particulates. This is a common project of ITKE and IFK, University of Stuttgart and Staatliches Naturkunde Museum Stuttgart (SMNS).
ICD and ITKE construct one of the 16 architectonical highlights along the River Rems. Other planners are Barkow Leibinger, Jürgen Mayer H., Brandlhuber+, Staab Architekten and Schneider+Schumacher.
The first place, three second places and three acknowledgements in the competition of ideas (AIV Stuttgart) for a flexible lightweight structure went to ITKE students (Form and Structure Seminar).

Out of 337 submissions from 42 locations around the world, the jury (Enrique Sobejano, Mike Schlaich, Daniel Lischer, Peter Ippolito, Gilles Retsin) selected the best projects for the DETAIL Prize and the two special prizes DETAIL inside and DETAIL structure.
