Nikolas Früh is a research associate and doctoral student at the Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design (itke) at the University of Stuttgart. There he develops methods for the integrative design and fabrication of lightweight structures from fibre-reinforced polymers. He is founder and managing director of Frueh Engineering. The Stuttgart-based start-up offers solutions for modelbased planning and execution of construction projects. In addition to teaching at the University of Stuttgart, he is a lecturer for the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Engineers and Architects in the field of Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Prior to this, Nik was BIM Manager at Ed. Züblin AG, where he was responsible for the implementation of international construction projects using the BIM method. The laser scanning process developed and implemented by Frueh Engineering for the inspection of formwork components for the new Stuttgart Central Station was awarded the BIM Award of the Baden-Württemberg BIM Cluster in 2018.
